Genesis by Nadia: Beyond Tradition

When people think of pink diamonds, they often imagine something delicate, traditional and unmistakably feminine.

A classic halo. A piece reserved for a moment in life, a particular type of ring, a particular way a pink diamond is supposed to look.

I've always been curious about what lies beyond expectations and eager to explore what's possible.

What interests me is how a piece feels when someone puts it on. The confidence it brings. The connection it creates. The way it quietly becomes part of a person's story.

That's what I think about when I work with Argyle pink diamonds. Not their colour alone, but their character. Their history. The journey they've taken before they ever reach my bench.

The closure of the Argyle mine in 2020 marked the end of the world's primary source of pink diamonds, making every Argyle pink diamond a finite piece of history. No new stones will ever emerge from that source again.

There's something incredibly special about that. These stones are no longer being discovered. What exists today is all there will ever be. For me, that makes every design an opportunity to honour not only the diamond itself, but the story it will go on to tell.

Genesis was born from that idea.

Not as a collection designed around trends or convention, but as a collection that reinterprets what a pink diamond could become if we let go of what it was expected to be.

Rather than designing around what a pink diamond is supposed to look like, I design around how I want the piece to feel.

Strong. Modern. Sculptural. Unexpected.

The materials are always chosen with intention. Rose gold brings warmth to Argyle pink diamonds, platinum allows white diamonds to feel bright and luminous, and yellow gold enhances the richness of champagne diamonds.

But beyond the materials, I'm interested in creating pieces with character. I am drawn to movement, asymmetry and forms inspired by nature rather than predictable jewellery rules. The result is jewellery that feels intuitive rather than prescribed, as though it has evolved naturally into its final form.

The result is a collection that often resonates with people who never considered themselves “pink diamond people.”

Today's clients are increasingly drawn to individuality rather than convention. They are looking for pieces that reflect their personality, values and life experiences rather than simply following tradition.

I see more women purchasing significant jewellery for themselves than ever before.

Women celebrating career milestones. Personal achievements. New beginnings. Moments of transformation.

They are choosing jewellery not because they are expected to, but because they want something special, something of value, something for themselves.

They are seeking jewellery that feels authentic to who they are.

Not because a particular stone is fashionable. Not because a design follows convention. But because something about the piece resonates with them.

That's what I find so compelling about coloured diamonds. They invite a more personal connection and encourage us to choose jewellery based on emotion rather than expectation. At the heart of Genesis pieces are extraordinary Argyle pink diamonds alongside the rich, earthy tones of Argyle champagne diamonds. Together they create a distinctly Australian luxury story grounded in craftsmanship, legacy and thoughtful design.

One of my favourite pieces in the collection is the Genesis Dress Ring. Crafted in platinum and 18ct rose gold, it combines marquise, pear and round brilliant-cut diamonds in a way that feels organic, sculptural and full of movement. Two rare Argyle pink diamonds sit within the composition, adding a subtle warmth that reveals itself over time.

I deliberately chose not to make the pink diamonds the loudest element of the design. Instead, they become something to discover. The more time you spend with the piece, the more you notice them. I think that's what makes the ring so special. It doesn't ask for attention. It rewards it.

What makes these diamonds so remarkable is not simply their beauty, but the fact that they represent something that can never be recreated. They are part of a closed chapter in Australian diamond history, preserved through design and carried forward by the people who wear them.

Genesis is a collection built on that idea, a celebration of rarity, creativity and modern luxury.

Because sometimes the most extraordinary pieces are the ones you never expected to fall in love with.

Should you find yourself in the Strand Arcade, I would love to welcome you into the boutique. Some pieces reveal their true character only when seen up close, and it would be my pleasure to show them to you personally.
