Beyond Genesis: What Comes Before Design

When we launched Genesis, I knew the collection would spark conversations about rarity, craftsmanship and the extraordinary legacy of Argyle pink diamonds.

What has been most rewarding is seeing the personal connection people have formed with the collection.

Many clients have shared stories about why they were drawn to particular pieces. Some were celebrating a milestone, others marking a new chapter in life, while some simply connected with the individuality of the designs.

That has always been my hope.

Because while diamonds may capture attention, it is often the meaning and the moment behind a piece that creates a lasting connection.

As rewarding as it has been to see Genesis find its place in the world, creativity at Mondial never stands still.

The Creative Process Never Stops

One of the questions I am asked most often is what comes next.

The truth is, the design process never really ends.

There is always a stone that sparks an idea. A shape that catches my attention and a client who walks into the boutique and inspires a whole new design or a colour combination I can't stop thinking about.

Even while Genesis was taking shape, I was collecting inspiration for future designs.

I am constantly sourcing unusual gemstones, exploring new materials, refining concepts and sketching ideas that may not become a finished piece for months or even years.

I've never believed in rushing a collection.

The pieces that endure are usually the ones that have been given the time and space to evolve naturally. Sometimes a design begins with a stone. Sometimes it begins with a feeling.

Either way, I prefer to build collections slowly and intentionally, allowing each piece to find its own identity. Like all meaningful creations, the design deepens over time, shaped by curiosity, reflection and a continual process of refinement.

What Inspires the Next Chapter

The inspiration behind my work is constantly evolving, but certain themes always seem to return.

Rare gemstones remain a continual source of fascination. I am drawn to stones with a sense of place and personality. The rarity of Argyle diamonds, the rich warmth of champagne diamonds and the shifting colours of Australian sapphires each tell a distinctly Australian story, making them an endless source of inspiration within my work.

I'm also endlessly inspired by nature.

The way colours blend unexpectedly.

The movement of petals, leaves and flowing forms.

Sacred geometry.

The balance between strength and softness.

These ideas often find their way into my designs, sometimes in obvious ways and sometimes more subtly through shape, proportion and movement.

Today's collectors are looking for pieces that feel personal rather than prescribed. They are embracing individuality and self-expression, choosing jewellery because it reflects who they are rather than what tradition expects.

That shift continues to inspire me.

They invite people to engage with jewellery differently, selecting pieces based on emotion, character and connection.

Genesis was born from many of these ideas. From a desire to honour the legacy of Argyle pink diamonds while presenting them in a way that felt contemporary, sculptural and unexpected. The collection remains an important chapter in the Mondial story and a reminder that some of the most meaningful designs begin with curiosity, evolve through craftsmanship and ultimately find their meaning through the people who wear them.

Looking Ahead

While I can't reveal too much about what is currently on the drawing board, I can say that there are several ideas quietly taking shape on the bench.

New gemstone combinations.

New interpretations of colour.

New ways of exploring movement, form and individuality.

As always, the focus remains on creating jewellery that feels meaningful, personal and emotional.

The best designs often take time.

For now, I am enjoying watching Genesis continue to find its place in the world while allowing the next chapter to unfold naturally. While we work quietly on what comes next, Genesis remains an important chapter in the Mondial story.
